FAQ

Clear-Span Building Questions, Answered

What is a clear-span metal building?

A building with no posts or columns in the middle. The roof trusses span the full width, so the whole floor is open for vehicles, equipment, storage or a workshop.

How wide can a clear-span building be?

We build clear-span buildings from 32′ to 60′ wide. Narrower buildings, 12′ to 30′ wide, use our standard carport and garage frames.

How much does a clear-span building cost?

A 32′ × 21′ clear-span cover starts at $7,295 installed. A 40′ × 41′ starts at $15,795 and a 50′ × 53′ starts at $22,995, all 14-gauge. Enclosure, doors, engineering, permit fees and sales tax are extra.

How tall can the walls be?

Leg heights go up to 20′ on wide-span buildings, enough for tall equipment, boats on trailers and large RVs.

Do I need a concrete slab?

Most enclosed clear-span buildings go on a concrete slab. Open covers can sometimes be anchored to asphalt or ground. Your engineering specifies the right foundation and anchors.

What site access do you need?

Buildings 32′ wide or wider, or 15′ tall or taller, need room for a lift on site. We also need a clear path for our truck and trailer and about 3′ of clear space around the building.

Are there extra charges on very large buildings?

Buildings over 43′ wide or 100′ long, or with a custom roof pitch, include a freight charge. Buildings 30′ wide or wider need as-built drawings. Your quote lists both.
